Jareru is kind of like a sandbox meme community. It's not a proper game in that we're recruiting, advertising or such, but people in the game can invite friends from the more proper games they're in, or people they've enjoyed memeing with to join in here, where we play a loosely structured game. It's kind of like memes with continuity.
So how exactly does this game or not game or whatever work?
All characters who have cell phones will find a set of new names in their address book. If your character doesn't have a cell phone, even if from an era where one could not conceivably exist, one will end up on their desk/in their bag/on their pillow when they wake up/whatever you want. Likewise it will have a contact list of everyone in the community. If your character is from a setting where keeping a phone charge would be enough of a bane as to hinder activity, congratulations, you have a perpetually charged phone!
IC features will be unlocked by activity, including network, voice/video chats, and world hops.
Characters will get digital currency which they can use to purchase community goods as a group, or to purchase lottery tickets for goods from a pool of things characters may want. More on that later.
OOC features earned by activity include plot tokens, such as deciding what meme-like affect might afflict the community for a period, or deciding the theme for/running a game-wide plot. More on that later.
In-Character Point Store/Lottery?
In your application, we'll ask for a list of things that would motivate your character to engage in various scavenger hunt tasks or whatever if they had the chance to earn them. If there's an object you'd like on the list, but would never want your character to actually receive, just say so and we'll post it on the list but keep it out of the actual random number generator.
There will also occasionally be high-cost items/events that can be bought by everybody pitching in, or by one particularly point-rich character generously buying for all. These could be things like the ability to world hop someplace while time slows down or stops in their own world for a while for DBZ style hyper-training, or perhaps avoiding a curse that will befall them all if not purchased. That curse will probably be some kind of meme-style thing that will be fun for players, by the way.
OOC Points?
Not tied to any particular activity, but just to activity itself, active players will be allowed to set up bigger community wide events. For example, if you want to run an event where your character's evil twin or Persona Style Shadow comes out and stirs shit up, as long as you've got an activity record to support that you won't stall things up, you're on. Or your character could be in a lottery for plot-relevant positions for other plots--I'd strongly prefer to avoid mod-NPCs, so whenever it's possible to let a character play a role by letting a player in on it and discussing if they can serve a specific purpose ICly, we'd prefer that.
And how is OOC activity gauged?
